Scientific Process

Problem: What impact will salt in water do to a ping-pong ball in floating in the water?
Hypothesis:If you add more salt to the water, it will increase the density, which will make the ball float higher.
Experimental Design:
Materials:
 -Five same size beakers
· A ping-pong ball
· Clay
· Dime
· Water
· Salt
Variables:
Control: The beaker with no amount of salt.
Constant Variables: The amount of water into the beakers, the beakers, the ping-pong ball, amount of clay and the dime.
Independent Variable: The amount of salt added to each beaker.
Dependent Variable: The height the ping-pong ball rise.
Procedure:
First, I had to get the equipment. I was worried that the ping-ping ball was so light that you could not tell any difference how high it floated. Therefore, I attached clay and a dime to the ball to weigh it down. I knew that all my beakers had to be the same so I got five identical beakers from the science lab. The temperature of the water was another variable, so to make sure it was all the same I got a thermometer. Then I used a graduated cylinder and measured out 200 ml for each beaker.
I used Morton’s iodized table salt and put it on a triple beam balance and measured out the amount of salt then poured it into a beaker; I repeated this until I got an amount of salt it takes to saturate 200 ml of water, which was 62 grams. Later I used this formula to make the different percentages of salt water: % _ Part100 ¯ Whole

When I got the sums (15.5[25%], 31[50%], 46.5[75%]), I distributed the amount of salt to the different beakers. Once I did that, I put the ping-pong ball in a beaker and measured it with an inch ruler from the top of the ball, to the surface of the water; I repeated this with all six beakers. Finally, I took the measurements and put them into a chart, and looked it over to see how high the ball rose in the saturated water, and just the normal water.

Observations:
Getting to the saturation point for water and trying to read the height of the ball.
.

Conclusion and Analysis:

I had to measure the height of the ball by using a ruler and measuring from the water level, to the height of the ball. My hypothesis was that if you add more salt the ball would float higher. When I was trying to find the saturation point it was the hardest part of the experiment, because I would have to add little by little amounts of salt to the water so when I get saturation point it would be more accurate. I supported all of the constant variables and even made sure the temperatures of the waters were all the same. The result was that the ball did float higher in the saturated water rather than in the water. This was because of more density being added to the water.

Electric Cars: Better for life, better than gas.

Authors Note: I wanted to write an essay so that I would know how to write and to get familiar with essays. I picked the topic of electric and hybrid cars because I have an opinion about gas cars not being eco-friendly and being expensive to fill up.

If you drove an electric or hybrid car could save over five hundred dollars a year. Why don’t we all drive one? Car dealers should stop making gas powered cars by the year of 2020.

Driving an electric car saves the driver money. Gas is almost at four dollars a gallon. Electricity for electric cars is eleven cents per gallon.  If you drove a hybrid you would save over five hundred dollars a year. Driving an electric car would save you over one thousand dollars a year.  Also the cost of a hybrid car is less than the cost of an electric car, but you would not save as much.
The electric and hybrid cars are eco friendly. Electric and hybrid cars do not emit as much exhaust as gas powered cars. With hybrids you won't use as much gas, and with electric cars you won't use any gas. We keep talking oil away from the economy where if we used electricity we would not have to take as much oil away; this is the reason gas prices have been so high. Also unlike gasoline/oil electricity is almost unlimited.
By year 2020, all gas powered cars should be off the road. It would help save you money and help save the planet.

THE GREAT (GOLDEN) COOKED PORKCHOP | #1 Story

There is a guy named Steve. He was very lonely. He lived in a village surrounded by Jungle mountains. His life was filled with no fun just boring things he has done. He does not like to talk or trade with the villagers .He just sits in his house all day. Steve is also pretty poor, he has only a few emeralds (Emeralds are money in the village).

His house was very small, with a crafting table, two pictures, a furnace, one bed, one story house, a very small kitchen/living room, a extremely small bedroom, and two windows.  The village had good security (five Iron Golems), so there was hardly any monsters.

Horrible school

When I was in 6 grade I was known as a weird kid (In a good way, and I still am). It was a rainy day and lunch just begun. I had a chicken parmesan that was pretty good. When I finished my lunch a teacher named Mr.Finn (Recess  volunteer) shouted
"There is recess if you want, you can go outside, but blacktop only. Or you may stay in here."
I chose to stay inside with my friend JB,Chloe and Chloe's friend. Chloe and her friend said we should play truth or dare, me and JB said okay. When my turn came around. I chose dare.
"Hmm... I dare you to, eat the rest of this salt in my pretzel bag." said Chloe
"Okay!" I responded confidently.
The bag only had 5 pinches of salt any ways, so I did it. I took one pinch of salt, and put it in my mouth, and swallowed. I was coughing and kind of troubling. I took another pinch of salt, held it and started shaking, then swallowed it. I was coughing and hacking even more. I took the other pinch of salt, put it in my mouth, walk to the drinking fountain, took a sip of water then swallowed. I was shaking, coughing and was in disgust.
Chloe said "Jackson you do not have to finish the dare, you look like-"
"I took the dare and I must finish it" I replied
I took the last piece of salt, threw it into the back of my mouth, and swallowed. JB, Chloe and her friend, could not believe I did it (neither could I). I walked over to the garbage bin, and started spiting out salt.
"Eww, gross" a kid shouted at a lunch table.
I felt something coming through, I busted out puking. The lunch room was screaming and moaning. I must have puked 4 to 5 times in the lunch room. A teacher gave me a garbage bucket, and told me to go to the nurse. I was barely walking, I was puking so much that I could not see straight. When I got to the nurse she was not there. Two 5th grade girls came walking down the hall, the girls looked at me, I puked they ran.
I then see the nurse running down the hall.
"I am coming, I am coming!" she shouts
I got in to the nurses office, went into the bathroom and started puking some more. She called up my mom, and told her,
"Your son Jackson, is in here throwing up right now."
"Oh no- I can't do anything right now though, I am working." responded my mom.
"Just come in as soon as you can. Bye"
It must have been 10 minutes until my mom came. But time goes fast when throwing up, and for the whole time I was. When my mom came, I was just ending my throwing up. She had to quit work and take me home. After around four hours I was still spiting up salt. I will always remember that day.

>Keep in mind that I just ate when that happened, so when I was puking I could feel chunks of food passing my throat. The food at school that day was also good. But it still is the worst feeling I have had. It was like throwing up marbles.<
